Ian Diffen City Discount Tyres in Kelmscott, Armadale
I'll relate my experience. You judge for yourself. Four tyres and a wheel alignment are required for my 2012 fairly high klm vw. I have made several enquiries already and unless I'm willing to look at top dollar their Sumito brand was the most reasonable choice. I already knew that the rear control arm bushes were in need of replacement and this is to be done elsewhere. A four wheel alignment will be necessary following this work. As a precaution, and, prior to spending around $800 or so, I dropped by this morning to see if they could do a quick check over of the front end prior to the fitting of the tyres and booking in for the wheel alignment. I was treated as a fool and a thief. Seriously? I was told a full check up of the front end and a wheel alignment are two very different things and is not routinely done prior to the wheel alignment (plus his mechanic was not there anyway). My response was basically that if a front end check is not a pre-requisite to the alignment that I would spend my hard earned $$'s elsewhere. This is why: should a wheel bearing, tie-rod end, or ball joint have excess play, or even a fair amount of play, the wheel alignment will not necessarily be accurate and the likelihood of tyres scrubbing out quickly is greatly increased, especially if the toe in / toe out is not able to be kept within specs. So it appears to me, that they would happily take my money but rather keep me, and most likely other customers in the dark about the real condition of the vehicles front end. The cynic in me suggests that it's simply a scam to drum up more business in the future, i.e. another purchase of tyres, front end work this time, and of course another wheel alignment. So, there it is. My experience may not be how they deal with you however, in my opinion, be very wary. I'm going elsewhere.
